Mr. Prime Minister…

FAILGetting mad at global credit ratings agencies is not going to change our downward spiral as a country. THE S&P and MOODY’S DON’T CARE ABOUT YOUR UPCOMING CONVENTION AND HOW YOU NEED TO MAKE YOUR PARTY LOOK FOR AN UPCOMING ELECTION. Instead of trying to do what your Party is proving to be incapable of (which is proper governance), you decide to throw temper tantrums at the global players who with one stroke of a pen, can decide the fate of our country and bring this house of cards we knew as a “prosperous nation” crumbling down. Let’s face it Bahamas. As a non-producing, service-based economy, we have been living “the good life” compared to many countries in the Caribbean for a long time. But that “good life” as we know it is slipping away from us more and more everyday. And the people we elected have not given us a single REAL reason to intelligently believe they are able to reverse the huge damage they have caused, as well as the damage that has been building up over the years.

BAHAMAS, OUR WAY OF LIFE AS WE KNEW IT IN MANY WAYS, IS OVER. Decisions are being made about our future that many of us don’t recognize or understand. And while the country spirals, political parties are busy making sure that the true talent in this nation is held down, blocked, weakened or neutralized in order to preserve their spots and protect the status quo. Truth is, many don’t want true change, because change will mess up their hustle or their precious legacies, and would send many of them straight from the gravy train to a prison cell. It is absolutely true that leadership is key, but just know that no one man alone is our salvation. Who, as a group of Bahamians, has the true vision, know-how, courage and integrity to begin to stop the nation’s bleeding, radically & properly address a stagnant economy, a failed educational system and weak labour force, out of control crime from murders to child abuse and beyond, endemic corruption, a culture of political victimization and cronyism, and the list goes on and on? AND WILL WE AS BAHAMIANS FINALLY BEGIN TO DEMAND MORE OF OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS, OR STILL FALL INTO A TRANCE AT THE SIGHT OF A POLITICAL COLOR & A SONG AND DANCE? Keep thinking a politician is going to be our Moses. Moses is dead. We are alive. What we don’t fight for, we won’t get. WE SAY CHANGE HAS TO START FROM THE TOP. NO, IT HAS TO START WITH YOU AND ME. WHEN WE GET SERIOUS, THE TOP HAS NO CHOICE BUT TO CHANGE, BECAUSE THEN WE WILL STOP PUTTING PEOPLE AT THE TOP WHO ARE KILLING THE SPIRITS OF BAHAMIANS.
