WE SAY we want people to take a stand – but when they do, we are not prepared or willing to get up, get out and stand with them.
WE SAY we want Bahamians to strive for excellence – but when they do, we turn around and hate them for it and try to block them at every turn.
WE SAY we want good leaders – but we spend our energies propping up useless, unethical personalities while tearing down those who can truly make a lasting, positive difference.
WE SAY we want a better tomorrow – but we are destroying the souls and minds of our young people and hence destroying our tomorrow.
WE SAY we want change – but we are not prepared to work for it or personally sacrifice anything to get it, hence we want change that costs us nothing.
WE SAY corruption needs to be stopped – but we don’t want to lose out on any benefits we can personally get from corruption.
WE SAY we want our public officials to do right by the office we give them – but when we see them, we become mute and are scared to confront them on their actions in our government.
WE SAY we want safer, stable societies – but we don’t want to change a single thing about the choices we make in private that contribute to the problems we face in public.
WE SAY we need to educate ourselves, but we would much rather read/watch gossip, lies & foolishness over reading/watching something that can help us grow and better ourselves.
WE SAY we want a bad government gone – but come Election Day we don’t plan to vote or would still vote in a bad government for five years once they can put something in our pocket for that one day.
WE SAY we want a better Bahamas – but we are sitting back waiting for someone else to make things better for us because we do not want the responsibility, pressure or weight that comes with being the change we want to see.
WE SAY we need unity – but we cannot get a group of us together to work for most things unless we can get the glory, praise or power from it.
WE SAY we need to turn to God – but turn our back on our brother or sister without care, compassion or remorse thinking God would still be interested in anything we might then try to turn to Him with.
WE SAY we are sick and tired of what is going on today – but other than complaining among ourselves, we sure aren’t acting like people who truly are sick and tired. When human beings truly get sick and tired of something, the whole world will know.
WE SAY A WHOLE LOT, BAHAMAS. BUT WHAT WE SAY vs WHAT WE DO ARE OFTEN TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. SO THINK ABOUT IT BAHAMAS AND BE REAL WITH YOURSELF – WHAT IS IT THAT YOU REALLY AND TRULY WANT? And if you want it, what are YOU – not somebody else – YOU doing to get it?
